Prague Proms: Bigband in Film
The Loop Jazz Orchestra - The Loop Jazz Club Hostivař, Studio Gallery
Program Info: The Loop Jazz Orchestra Vít Pospíšil, artistic leader, piano
Music is an integral part of films. It builds the atmosphere of each scene, which enhances the storytelling process. This is one of the reasons why we have famous film scores which define the mood of their counterparts. Film scores can be unsettling, melancholic, have a touch of humour, a promise of adventure, and if truly outstanding, can become iconic on its own terms. Film composers have often collected a slew of awards, but most importantly, their music has become etched in the hearts of several generations.
This is why we’ve decided to include a selection of iconic film music into our Bigband program. We’ve included tracks from movies such as The Young Girls of Rochefort, Diabolically Yours, Three Days of the Condor, Trouble Man, Kill Bill Vol. 1, Rocky and Last Tango in Paris. Performing on the stylish stage of the Loop Jazz Club, audiences will have the chance to enjoy The Loop Jazz Orchestra, which was founded by Jan Hasenöhrl in collaboration with Lukáš Chejn and others. Under the leadership of pianist, arranger, composer, flautist, and artistic director Vít Pospíšil, the orchestra will use their performance to honour composer legends such as Duke Ellington, Vladimir Cosma, Michel Legrand, Harold Arlen and others.
Music is our gateway to human emotions, come and open it with us.
