09 August 2025 Mikaeli (Finland)
Lord of the Rings
Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Anthony Gabriele - Martti Talvela Hall
Program Info: The Lord of the Rings saga, written as a sequel to J. R. R. Tolkien's children's book The Hobbit, is one of the most legendary stories of the 20th century. The works reflect Tolkien's deep interest in languages, as well as Scandinavian mythology and Anglo-Saxon epic poetry. Having experienced World War I, Tolkien's work is also a significant exploration of good and evil, inner morality, resilience, and selfless friendship.
The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, directed by Peter Jackson and released between 2001 and 2003, achieved immense popularity and earned composer Howard Shore an Academy Award for its music. On August 9th, audiences will return to Middle-earth during the concerts, with a program featuring Shore's symphonic suites from the music of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films.
