Program Info: An important component of computer games from the beginning, game music has constantly developed along with the games, from simple electronically generated 8-bit computer sounds to large, symphonic works and an independent genre. It's no wonder that these have recently found their way into concert halls around the world more and more often. For the first time, the Bern Symphony Orchestra, together with the Bern Stage Choir and under the direction of Zsolt Czetner, is presenting a selection of the best pieces of music from these games. The range extends from classics like Tetris, Super Mario and Pokémon to games like The Witcher, Civilisation and Skyrim, which are known for their epic soundtracks. The music of these games sounds just as varied: sometimes energetic and powerful, with a large, extended romantic orchestra and choir with a film music character, sometimes more playful or lyrical. And maybe – for example with Super Mario or Tetris – memories of childhood and the first Game Boy or Playstation will be awakened. The perfect opportunity to slip into another character for an exciting evening!
