Film Music 2.0
Das Philharmonische Orchester conducted by Johannes Zurl - Staatstheater Cottbus, Großes Haus
Program Info: Great successes always find a sequel in the cinema, so the film concert by the Philharmonic Orchestra is now also a sequel. Conductor Johannes Zurl has once again put together a program full of excitement, heroic trips and epic sound landscapes. The orchestra unfolds the entire range of film music - from lively adventure motifs to monumental orchestral passages, from the 1950s to the present day.
The overture from "The Crimson Pirate" opens the program with maritime drama, followed by the rousing topics of John Williams from "Hook", "Indiana Jones" and "The adventures of Tim and Struppi". With the atmospheric sounds from "Prince of Persia" and The "Thief of Baghdad", an impressive sound journey through distant worlds is created. With Hans Zimmer's "Batman" it goes through the night of Gotham City. The program is complemented by modern film music by Robin Hoffmann ("The Treasure Trackers") and the Cottbus from Cottbus ("The Queen's Escape").
Highlights are film scenes from "Cast Away", "Indiana Jones" and "Hook", accompanied live by the orchestra, which give the evening cinematic depths and have music and image merge into a new experience. How different a single scene can work through different backgrounds will be an exciting experiment.
Experience film music in all their splendour - gripping, visual and live!
