Titanic: Blake Pouliot in Korngold's Violin Concerto
Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire conducted by Sascha Goetzel - La Citè des Congrès
Program Info: Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire Sascha Goetzel, conductor Blake Pouliot, violin
After an immersion in the particular and captivating musical world of Aurélien Dumont, violinist Blake Pouliot passionately takes on the very famous Violin Concerto by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, composed from several extracts from the composer's film scores. With its lush sounds and intensely expressive melodies, this Hollywood score quickly won over a wide audience. In his First Symphony, Gustav Mahler does not describe ancient gods fighting their fathers but a man caught in the torments of a changing German nation. This tale of a fiery hero who ascends the throne is presented in a captivating musical mosaic, mixing brass fanfares, bohemian themes, klezmer music, and even a nod to the very childish “Frere Jacques” before the triumphant conclusion.
