Program Info:
The MYO joins forces with the MPO under the baton of Michael Laus. Muscat’s Festival Overture sets the tone of the concert, with its synthesis of lyrical melodies and rhythmic vigour. Originally composed by Prokofiev as the score for the 1934 film Lieutenant Kije, this symphonic suite features five vibrant movements encapsulating the movie’s essence. Respighi employs innovative orchestral techniques to portray Rome’s iconic pine trees in I pini di Roma, a work of striking dramatic power and atmospheric beauty.
