The film Richters Patterns, which consists of significant contemporary German artist Gerhard RICHTER's patterns, was created by composer Marcus SCHMICKLER and film director Corinna BELZ. RICHTER took an image of his work Abstract Painting (CR: 7244) and divided it vertically into strips. BELZ used these images to create a movie that was generated by a computer algorithm programmed for the project. SCHMICKLER wrote the music in parallel with the film's creation, and extended RICHTER's dividing method into the field of sound and time. Listeners experience these sounds as if they are looking at a painting. We will hear the visual rhythm in RICHTER's patterns with SCHMICKLER's interpretation in music!
