30 January 2024 Leipzig (Germany)
Music and film
lu:v - Musikschule Leipzig "Johann Sebastian Bach"
Program Info: The meaning of film music is illustrated and presented by the band lu:v
How is film music actually created? What is its function and how does it support the plot of the film? Which instruments, playing techniques and sounds can be used?
The band lu:v will try to answer these and other questions interactively together with the students. Excerpts from the film “Anton, the Musician” by Günther Ratz from the archive of the DEFA animated film studio in Dresden serve as the basis. Using a few short sequences, different approaches to the topic of “film music” (leitmotif, Mickey mousing, atmospheric work…) are illustrated and then put together in collaboration with the students. Particular attention is paid to the various instrumentation options (guitar, accordion, tuba, various woodwind instruments) in our trio, taking into account traditional and contemporary playing techniques.
This event is supported by the German Institute for Animated Film (DIAF) and the DEFA Foundation.
