RPO Eclipse Spectacular: A Symphonic Celebration
Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Jeff Tyzik - Blue Cross Arena
Program Info: Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra Andreas Delfs, conductor Jeff Tyzik, conductor Troupe Vertigo Rochester City Ballet
Imagine walking into an arena transformed into a space-themed extravaganza – the atrium filled with family friendly activities and learning experiences, local museums and organizations, vendors, entertainment – and even a piece of space history.
The concert experience will be one-of-a-kind, unlike any in the orchestra’s history. Music Director Andreas Delfs and Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik lead the orchestra in front of a giant screen where vivid eclipse and space inspired video, animations, and images will be shown. State-of-the-art lighting and stunning visual effects will accompany dancers from Rochester City Ballet, amazing aerialists from Troupe Vertigo and a community choir of 150 singers as they elevate both the visual and audible experience of the evening.
The concert features music that embodies the spirit and the excitement the eclipse, including favorite movie themes from Star Wars, Star Trek, and 2001: A Space Odessey; the powerful planetary essays of Gustav Holst, and a new composition written especially for the concert by Jeff Tyzik, all launched by Richard Strauss’ iconic Sunrise from Also Sprach Zarathustra.
