Film Music Concert "Avatar" and "Titanic" and the most beautiful songs by James Horner
Polish Radio Orchestra conducted by Maciej Sztor - COS Torwar

Program Info:
On December 6, the COS Torwar Hall in Warsaw will host the premiere of a concert dedicated to the work of James Horner - the author of soundtracks for over a hundred Hollywood films, including the most profitable productions in the entire history of cinema: "Avatar" and "Titanic".

The Polish Radio Orchestra in Warsaw and the Warsaw University of Technology Choir, conducted by Maciej Sztor, will perform James Horner's most famous compositions for films such as: "Avatar", "Titanic", "Brave Heart", "Apollo 13", "Glory" and "Alien". The concert program will also include the latest music for "Avatar 2". The solo parts will be sung by Anna Lasota, and the narration will be led by Magda Miśka-Jackowska.

A specially selected original repertoire will allow you to appreciate the stylistic richness and talent of James Horner - one of the most outstanding contemporary film music composers, orchestrators and conductors. In his unforgettable soundtracks, he skillfully combined choral, instrumental and electronic sounds. He has successfully created music for historical cinema, science fiction, drama, horror and animation. He was able to portray any musical color, and in his statements he often compared composing to painting.

In a very short time, Horner became one of the most sought-after Hollywood composers. He has collaborated with the best musicians in the world and great directors, such as George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Mel Gibson and Olivier Stone. In 1987, Horner received his first Oscar nomination for the score for Aliens. However, he received the coveted Academy Award statuettes only in 1998 for the soundtrack to the film "Titanic" and for the song "My heart will go on", which he co-wrote with Will Jennings.

“Horner's music requires a very efficient performing apparatus that can reproduce all the nuances of the score and realize the entire palette of colors in a noble and subtle way. His music flows, it cannot be contained within frames," summarizes conductor Maciej Sztor.

The songs performed live by the choir and orchestra will be illustrated by projections of film fragments and the most famous film frames on a cinema screen.
