Program Info: Next year, the renowned maestro Joe Hisaishi will be guesting in Munich with music from the renowned Japanese animation studio Ghibli in Munich. Hisaishi gained notoriety through his years of impressive collaboration with Oscar-winning director Hayao Miyazaki (Studio Ghibli).
Also performing is Hisaishi's daughter Mai Fujisawa (known as Mai), a talented and successful singer-songwriter. Her personal style is characterised by a combination of folkloric elements, gentle melodies and haunting vocals. In addition to releasing three studio albums to date, Mai has collaborated with her father on soundtracks on numerous occasions, many of them for the Ghibli animation house ("The Castle in the Sky" and "The Walking Castle").
As a fascinating concert production, Joe Hisaishi's famous compositions from films such as "Princess Mononoke", "My Neighbour Totoro" and the award-winning "Spirited Away" are brought to life together with the Munich Symphony Orchestra and the Munich Motet Choir. While selected sequences are projected onto a huge screen, a 140-strong choir and orchestra ensemble provides the musical background with fantastic sounds.
