Simon Höfele, the young shooting star among Germany's trumpeters, presents the rousing Piano Concerto No. 1 by Dmitri Shostakovich together with the pianist Elisabeth Brauß. The soloist duo provides a solo follow-up with André Jolivet's witty Concertino. The two concertante works are framed by the Concerto per Archi by the film music legend Nino Rota and by Benjamin Britten's Variations, a compositional tribute to his teacher Frank Bridge.
