The greatest music from French cinema
Orchestra - La Seine Musicale

Program Info:
It is sometimes claimed that good film music should not be noticed. The composers featured in this program did not follow this advice, and that's good for us! Admittedly composed for the screen, the soundtracks of film are partitions with whole share which can very well do without images. Or rather, they are scores so evocative that they have the power to awaken images in us, and even better: they give us the pleasure of remembering the images that go with them, and even of guessing at them.

A concert like a Cannes festival for your ears with the greatest composers of film music: from Georges Delerue to Francis Laï via Jean Wiéner or Paul Misraki , Claude Bolling and many others...

So many cult melodies that adorned French cinema in the 1960s and 1970s. Their musical treasures draw on all genres – song, jazz, classical – to marry the story and its characters: both comedy and passionate love ( one thinks of the iconic dance scene in Et Dieu…créa la femme or the irresistible dabadabada in A Man and a Woman ), destructive love ( Le Mépris and the haunting theme of the string orchestra) and even thriller (with the melancholic harmonica theme in Touchez pas au grisbi and also Borsalino with a tasty jazz that immediately sets the scene for Delon and Belmondo).

Inseparable from the films for which they composed the soundtrack, these composers have immortalized the masterpieces of Godard , Lelouch , Becker … Thanks to their unforgettable melodies, they achieve a perfect marriage between music and the seventh art!
