Program Info: John Adams created a masterpiece of feel-good music with his »Short ride in a fast machine«. According to the American composer, he had a frightening ride in his friend's Italian sports car in mind when he wrote the fast-paced, exuberant piece. Also a classic of American orchestral music, Gershwin's »Rhapsody in Blue« celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2024 - one more reason to bring the Broadway composer's fascinating work to the stage. Hollywood film music, on the other hand, touches on none other than Dmitri Shostakovich in this concert. His playful »Mosquito Suite« is reminiscent of the often forgotten, multifaceted film music work of the Russian sound creator.
