With its tragic tone, Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 6, premiered in 1906 in the Essen Hall under the direction of the composer, is considered one of Mahler's strongest works. From the start, it was well received by critics and audiences alike. The symphony orchestra of the Orchesterzentrum|NRW, located in the neighbourhood on Brückstraße, will play the work under the direction of Christian Reif. The German-born conductor is considered an outstanding talent and has made a remarkable musical mark in concerts with some of the world's most renowned orchestras in Europe and the USA.
