Film music by Korngold, Herrmann and Williams
Ramon van Engelenhoven, piano - De Vereeniging, Kleine Zaal
Program Info: On Wednesday 29 March it's Piano Day. Especially for this we invite the young Dutch pianist Ramon van Engelenhoven! The program includes film music by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Bernard Herrmann and John Williams, adapted by Ramon himself for piano solo.
Ramon van Engelenhoven (1995) completed his Master Piano at the Conservatory of Amsterdam in 2019 with a 10, where he studied with Frank Peters. From a young age he has won prizes at several competitions, including first prize at the International Steinway Piano Competition (2012) and first prize at the Princess Christina Competition (2013). In 2015 Ramon won the Grand Finale of the Young Pianist Foundation Competition. In addition, he was the very first laureate to receive the Grand Prix Youri Egorov, a prize that is only awarded if the winner is a talent of international potential. He also won the audience award as a finalist of the Dutch Classical Talent season 19/20. Piano Day
Piano Day is held on the 88th day of the year in reference to 88 keys on a piano. It's an idea of the German pianist and composer Nils Frahm, "because there's no harm in celebrating the piano and everything around it: performers, composers, piano builders, tuners, movers and above all the listener."
