Psycho — Filmkonzert mit Daniel Hope und Anthony Gabriele
Zürcher Kammerorchester conducted by Anthony Gabriele - Kongresshaus Zürich
Program Info: Bernard Herrmann - Psycho
Music Director Daniel Hope and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra kick off the spring with a suspenseful performance of "Psycho", a classic film by Alfred Hitchcock from 1960, on the Tonhalle stage and screen under the direction of Anthony Gabriele. The American conductor and composer Bernard Herrmann created what is probably the most famous and most quoted music for the film. The scene of the murder in the shower, one of the most visually famous in the film, was planned without music according to Hitchcock's ideas. The dissonant high-pitched "violin screams" composed by Herrmann convinced him otherwise, and the scene became one of the greatest moments in film history.
