This concert has been canceled.

Program Info:
John Williams - The Empire Strikes Back

“A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away ...” More than 40 years ago, George Lucas revolutionized the Hollywood cinema landscape with his science fiction saga “Star Wars.” The classic film series has remained a worldwide success for generations. In addition to the special effects and exciting characters, the Oscar-winning music of John Williams also contributed to the success of the space epic. Millions of fans have grown up with the melodies of Princess Leia, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, and Darth Vader and can hum along with them. “John Williams, like no other, is able to translate an emotion into music that gives the film a depth that would not exist without his music,” is how violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter described this phenomenon recently. In a multimedia film concert, the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra will perform live the impressive soundtrack to “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back” while Episode 5 plays on the big screen in its entirety. With Ludwig Wicki at the helm, the orchestra is directed by one of the most experienced film music conductors, who is sure to make the evening a particularly emotional experience.
