Family Concert: Is This Jazz?
BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by Holly Mathieson - Royal Festival Hall

Program Info:
BBC Concert Orchestra
Holly Mathieson, conductor
Trish Clowes, saxophone
Pete Letanka , presenter

This fun-filled concert asks the question what is jazz and where do we find it?

Jazz in film, jazz in the club, jazz in the concert hall and even jazz on the TV in your living room – together we’ll journey around town, opening doors to find secret, sneaky jazz hiding all around us!

Be amazed as the BBC Concert Orchestra performs on the huge stage of Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall – you’ll even have a chance to sing along and take part in some body percussion. You’ll also be the first to hear a brand-new piece by saxophonist and composer Trish Clowes, written specially for the occasion. There will be a real mix of music, everything from TV theme tunes, musical theatre numbers from Bernstein and Gershwin, film hits and favourites from Duke Ellington and Dizzy Gillespie.

With something for everyone, you’ll leave knowing a lot more about jazz and hopefully craving more.
